Fantastic Success!

It’s been just over one week since WellDone’s Launch event, and it was a fantastic success. We were blown away by the turnout—250 passionate supporters packed into Public Works in San Francisco’s Mission District, and on a Tuesday no less!
We’re pretty proud of our temporary takeover of the space. Thanks to Banner Express, we had new marketing collateral to share. To start, we decked the walls out with floor-to-ceiling photographs from our team’s trip to Malawi. WellDone focuses on the joy that water brings to a village, and these photos allowed us to share that joy with a whole new audience. (And now we want you to see too—check out the photos on Facebook.) Other event highlights included incredible food from Radio Africa Kitchen with serving assistance from Boobs4Food, an energetic performance by the Stanford Kuumba Dance and Drum ensemble, inspiring speeches from WellDone’s own Josh, Peter, and Amanda, and, of course, our Icelandic DJ Björgvin, who rocked the house with a custom African-beat infused mix.
However, the overall purpose of the event, beyond having a wicked good time, was to let our supporters in on what we’ve been doing for the past several months, and also announce two new relationships which we’re really excited about with Marion Medical Mission and the FutureBuilding online platform.
Firstly, we’re honored to be working with Marion Medical Mission. This partnership gives us the opportunity to build a well for only $350! This is because the villagers do most of the work encouraging a DIY mentality! We (and you) provide specific well parts that the community cannot build themselves. The villagers do the rest! This collaboration helps keep the costs down and the community connected to the projects.
Secondly, but no less importantly, our online Future Building platform allows people to buy specific well parts online, and visualize exactly where their money is going. Buy a single part for as low as $1.80, or fund a whole well for $350—it’s totally up to you, and it’s so satisfying to have such a personal connection to the project.
We can’t wait to see these partnerships grow and prosper, and we hope that you feel the same!
